Chapter 4: furnace repair quest won't update after fixing the furnaces
Fixed the furnaces at the start of Chapter 4 but the quest log still lists every task? You probably skipped the final lever. Here's the full order.
Steps
- Reconnect the wire. Repair the broken wiring on the furnace as the quest asks.
- Add the fuel. Put fuel into the furnace.
- Reassemble and lock the furnace in place. Put the furnace back together. Once the parts are lined up, hit it with an aerial Force Palm. One player only got the repair to register after doing this.
- Pull the lever to turn it on. After repairing and fuelling it, push the lever to switch the furnace on. This is the step that's easy to miss, and without it the quest won't register the repair.
The problem: early in Chapter 4 the main quest sends you to the site of an explosion and asks you to fix the furnaces. You reconnect the wire, add fuel and reassemble everything, but the quest log keeps saying all of those tasks still need doing. Reloading doesn’t change anything, so it looks like a soft lock.
What fixed it: it isn’t a bug. The repair only counts once the furnace is actually switched on with its lever. The player who reported the soft lock had forgotten that last step. Once they pulled the lever, the quest moved on.
Good to know
- Another player in the thread said their reassembly didn’t register until they used an aerial Force Palm on the lined-up furnace. If the lever doesn’t work on its own, go back and do that first.
- The quest talks about more than one furnace, so make sure each one has been switched on.
